Outer Banks Marathon Makes Wall Street Journal
Here is an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal about one of the participants in last Sunday’s Outer Banks Marathon.
For ‘Mega Marathoners,’ the Race Is On — to Run More Races
By NEIL KING JR.
KITTY HAWK, N.C. — Some compulsives collect shoes. Others obsess over video games. Eugene DeFronzo, 73 years old, runs marathons. He clocked his 402nd here on a recent Sunday, and has three more planned this year.
The Connecticut personal-injury lawyer cracked three vertebrae when he slipped during a race last December. He pulled a hamstring in Tampa two months later, and again in Mississippi a week after that. He nearly passed out in the parched hills of South Dakota in August, finishing last by two hours. In October, he got lost in the woods of Indiana when organizers cleared away the markers.

More Pictures from the Veteran’s Day Storm
Friday the 13th, day three of the storm and overnight the storm did major damage to the beautiful Outer Banks. Many ocean front homes substained damage and one home was claimed by the ocean. The pictures I am sharing today are from the Avalon Pier to Nags Head. It is now Saturday and we woke to drizzle and the wind has subsided thankfully. Hopefully the storm is over and we can access the damage to the beach and our neighbors and friends homes.
The OBX Team – Previewed Home of the Day – 2013 Norfolk Street
This “Surfer’s Shack” is reminiscent of the classic Nags Head, beach style cottage with real wood on the walls and ceilings. There are two bedrooms on first floor with an upper level room large enough to sleep a family. The steps are a little steep but it adds to the whole charm of this place. There is an enclosed front porch and screened porch behind the home to enhance the living area. You are convenient to everything in this home and once you walk in – you feel like you are right at home. It is priced right!

Pictures of the November Tropical Storm
I want to share pictures of the Outer Banks today and the effects of the tropical storm. We have had heavy rain for two days and it is forecast to continue to rain tomorrow also. The forecast for tonight is rain with wind gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour and it could reach 50 miles per hour. There is water in the roadway on Route 12 which is the road to Duck. Also Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head have water on the roads. Old Oregon Inlet Road has water and debris on the road making driving dangerous in places.
Staying safe here,
Dee
